Timothy Kavanaugh, M.D., founder of the former Alaska Bone & Joint Institute, joined OPA in 2011. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in total joint replacement and revision of the hip and knee.  He is a graduate of Finch University of Health Sciences at The Chicago Medical School, North Chicago, IL.  He completed his orthopedic residency training at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, OH and his fellowship training in total joint replacement at The New Mexico Center for Joint Replacement Surgery in Albuquerque, NM.

Dr. Kavanaugh has been practicing orthopedic surgery since 2002. He has served as president for the Anchorage Orthopedic Society, is a member of the Alaska State Medical Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Kavanaugh is dedicated to providing the highest level of total patient care – from diagnosis through recovery.  He gains tremendous satisfaction from helping patients with arthritic joints regain pain free function and return to their livelihoods.
