Mark E. Flanum, M.D. is board certified in orthopedic surgery and fellowship trained in both spine surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Flanum earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, where he also completed his internship and residency. He completed fellowship training in sports medicine at the Adidas Sports Medicine Institute in Auckland, New Zealand and additional fellowship training in spine surgery at Auckland Hospital.
Dr. Flanum is part of OPA’s spine surgeon team, which also includes James Eule, M.D. and Edward Voke, M.D. Dr. Flanum provides treatment for the full range of conditions of the cervical (neck), thoracic (upper back), and lumbar (low back) spine. He treats numerous conditions including trauma, disk herniation, deformity, and spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column that produces pressure on nerve roots. Flanum also offers disk replacement surgery, which has been performed by a limited number of spine surgeons in the United States.
